Apprenti is a registered apprenticeship program powered by the Washington Technology Industry Association (WTIA) and run by the WTIA Workforce Institute. Apprenti trains future tech workers with an emphasis on underrepresented groups including women, minorities, and veterans. Apprenti is an industry recognized, state accredited program. Apprentices will receive two to four months of full-time, industry recognized training then begin one-year of paid on-the-job training with one of the program’s hiring partners.
Apprenti has signed on Amazon Web Services (AWS) Military as one of the program’s hiring partners. As part of their commitment, Amazon has committed to hiring 25,000 military veterans and spouses, a number of whom will join AWS, by 2021. Additionally, they committed to providing AWS training to 10,000 active duty service members, military veterans and spouses through their AWS Educate program, offering them a path to AWS certification.
CityU’s School of Technology and Computing has been chosen to deliver training for AWS Military cohort groups of 12-20 apprentices, on behalf of Apprenti. CityU is also a CompTIA Authorized Academy.
