Hosted by CityU’s Center for Cybersecurity Innovation and School of Technology and Computing (STC), the Applied Research Symposium is open to faculty, professionals, and students from any discipline, university, or professional organization. At the end of each quarter, any students who would like to share their projects including capstone courses will present their outcomes. This symposium will provide opportunities for students, researchers, and practitioners to discuss the influence and impact of the applied computing on the future of our planet and our society

What is a web tool that can be developed to assist web developers and users to check if their websites are following WCAG standards.
This project is about taking the first steps into managing the internal security risks often associated with employees. Areas of interest include user training, awareness, and zero-trust. The suggestions and methods discussed were selected around being accessible to small businesses.
Implement a microservice approach for data streaming applications. Data streaming is one of the methods used for data processing in real-time. There is a mechanism that needs to publish and consume this data from the streaming application, and microservices help to achieve the same. Java and Spring framework provides an easy development environment to achieve this. Finally, a database is implemented to save the data.
This project asks the question “How can banks improve data security and the customer banking experience with blockchain technology?”
This project aims at building a highly scalable stock market web application for users to provide them with consolidated and valuable stock market related information. The web application is designed in a Microservice architecture with the use of ReactJS as frontend and Python Flask as a backend service. The web application is hosted on AWS serverless framework to provide availability and scalability.
Social networks have been in our lives for a long time ago. According to the research on this paper, there are a few ways to meet new people when you are new in the city. Also, finding good events or parties is not easy. The purpose of this study is to create a web page to make it easy to meet new people according to their pleasures. New neighbors may benefit from the results of this web application, they will find all the information related to events in only one place, and this will increase the way they make new friends.
This project revolves around gathering and automating the background research that is needed when looking at potential investment properties. This tool will allow for automatic generation of a report which should clearly indicate what key metrics are positive or negative for a property.
An eCommerce website is built that helps the Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to sell physical and digital goods online. The idea of this website is to create a platform for local businesses where they can sell products globally
The emergence of IoT Devices creates more attack vectors into a home network that were previously not as common. This project aims to help users create their own security system to better secure their home networks.
