Hosted by CityU’s Center for Cybersecurity Innovation and School of Technology and Computing (STC), the Applied Research Symposium is open to faculty, professionals, and students from any discipline, university, or professional organization.  At the end of each quarter, any students who would like to share their projects including capstone courses will present their outcomes. This symposium will provide opportunities for students, researchers, and practitioners to discuss the influence and impact of the applied computing on the future of our planet and our society

Regulations within the Fin Tech industry are not aligned. Privacy laws differ from Country to Country. Enforcement of the laws become difficult with cross border transactions. Alignment of privacy laws would provide clear understanding to the consumers as well as enabling enforcement.

Implement a microservice approach for data streaming applications. Data streaming is one of the methods used for data processing in real-time. There is a mechanism that needs to publish and consume this data from the streaming application, and microservices help to achieve the same. Java and Spring framework provides an easy development environment to achieve this. Finally, a database is implemented to save the data.

Serverless Stock Market Web Application

This project aims at building a highly scalable stock market web application for users to provide them with consolidated and valuable stock market related information. The web application is designed in a Microservice architecture with the use of ReactJS as frontend and Python Flask as a backend service. The web application is hosted on AWS serverless framework to provide availability and scalability.

The Party Finder Web Application

Social networks have been in our lives for a long time ago. According to the research on this paper, there are a few ways to meet new people when you are new in the city. Also, finding good events or parties is not easy. The purpose of this study is to create a web page to make it easy to meet new people according to their pleasures. New neighbors may benefit from the results of this web application, they will find all the information related to events in only one place, and this will increase the way they make new friends.
