As cyber threats grow in both complexity and frequency, cybersecurity professionals are among the most in-demand roles across all sectors. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for information security analysts is projected to grow 32 % from 2022 to 2032—much faster than the average for all occupations. Meanwhile, with 78 % of companies now integrating AI into their operations, professionals who understand the intersection of cybersecurity and intelligent systems are increasingly valued.

Graduates of CityU’s Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity (BSCY) are prepared for high-impact roles such as:

  • AI Security Specialist: Use artificial intelligence to detect anomalies, prevent intrusions, and strengthen defenses against advanced cyber threats.

  • MLOps Engineer: Deploy and monitor machine learning models for threat detection, phishing prevention, and fraud analysis while ensuring secure and reliable pipelines.

  • AI Data Engineer: Build and manage pipelines that collect, normalize, and process large volumes of security data to support AI-driven intelligence systems.

  • Threat Intelligence Analyst: Track exploits, gather open-source intelligence, and apply AI-assisted tools to anticipate attacker tactics and reduce vulnerabilities.

  • Cybersecurity Ethics and Governance Specialist: Ensure responsible use of AI in security contexts, addressing privacy, compliance, and regulatory requirements.

  • AI Systems Architect: Design intelligent defense architectures that integrate monitoring platforms, intrusion detection, and predictive analytics for resilient security.

CityU’s BSCY graduates work with teams at Adobe, AWS, Google, and Microsoft, among others, helping to power intelligent defense and secure insights in areas such as:

  • Retail & e-Commerce — AI-driven fraud prevention and secure payment systems

  • Healthcare — protecting patient data and securing AI-assisted diagnostic platforms

  • Finance & Insurance — fraud detection, credit risk modeling, and automated compliance

  • Manufacturing & IoT — safeguarding connected devices and predictive maintenance systems
