Cybersecurity impacts us all
Everyday headlines highlight another cyber security attack on our hospitals, oil companies, and food processing plants.
What does this have to do with you, as a teacher, administrator, and K-12 professional?
Everything.
Our nation faces a critical shortage of cybersecurity professionals. One third of the 1.4 million cybersecurity jobs go unfilled because there are not enough qualified candidates. Every year, our society becomes more dependent upon technology and the number of cybersecurity jobs increases. But our schools, colleges, and universities are not producing enough students to meet our nation’s needs.
High school teachers are critical to raise awareness, interest, and prepare our students for cybersecurity careers. The number of high paying jobs is outpacing the demand.
The next generation must understand the importance of cyber to our critical infrastructures, our economy and democratic society.
