Hosted by CityU’s Center for Cybersecurity Innovation and School of Technology and Computing (STC), the Applied Research Symposium is open to faculty, professionals, and students from any discipline, university, or professional organization. At the end of each quarter, any students who would like to share their projects including capstone courses will present their outcomes. This symposium will provide opportunities for students, researchers, and practitioners to discuss the influence and impact of the applied computing on the future of our planet and our society

Building and using the CLI app can fullfill any users who have desired to use advanced features for multitasking, scripting, automating and highly customizing compared to the GUI app. CLI has more to offer in scale and better control over system functions with less memory usage. This paper will analyze the reason we choose CLI, and what technoglogy we will be using, and how we build it differently.
Blockchain technology allows for real time verification of transactions. This project researches how blockchain technology could disrupt the financial auditing industry. Blockchain technology allows for verification in real time with the ledger being decentralized, duplicated and distributed across the entire network of computer systems on the blockchain. The major motivation of the paper is to explore how and when blockchain could be widely accepted among financial institutions
Blockchain Technologies and how it can possibly be more affordable regarding resource costs (more accessible/affordable)
This study is to implement and optimize an international character classification task, using artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and neural networks to build a globalized name recognition product. The optimal experimental results of high accurate evaluation and prediction are obtained. It can help people to solve tedious text classification and analysis problems.
My Capstone will focus on deploying machine learning models where researchers can begin to take full advantage of the predictive and intelligent models they build and develop businesses based on the results, thereby transforming themselves into AI-driven practices. This project creates an inference operation and a deploy operation to deploy the model as a web service. The inference is when a deployed model is used for prediction, usually to produce resulting data. In inference, the research member will specify the dependencies required by the service model. The deployment action specifies details about serving the encapsulated model on the cloud computing target.
With the change in technology, the accuracy of detectors has gradually improved. Inevitably, the data detected by the old detector would not be as clear as the data detected by the new detector. The photospheric line-of-sight magnetic field maps integrated from Michelson Doppler Imager (MDI) and Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) detection data have the same problem. This project builds an image super-resolution model to fit the old magnetic field maps related to MDI, which is the old detector, to the new magnetic field maps related to HMI, which is the new detector. This project will be a reference for doing the same type of data clarity enhancement in the future.
A new style of online food ordering platform.
Nowadays, playing video games is one of the regular entertainment items for most young people. Games can also be used as a tool to train human and even machine skills. This project will try to use AI to train a type of mini-game called bullet curtain game
Spring Boot provides a radically faster and broader introductory experience for all Spring development and offers a range of non-functional features and externalized configurations
My goal is to create a data science knowledge oriented individual user that aims to use data science methods to help them more easily satisfy their curiosity about events that are or have been happening on social networks.
In recent years, people’s spending on 3D modeling has gradually increased. Among them, spending on hardware is far greater than on software and services. This project uses a typical monocular camera to scan to reduce the hardware cost of users in 3D modeling. At the same time, the modeling results are improved by scanning the in-hand object. Among various 3D scanning technologies, compared with technologies that require the object to be stationary during the scanning process, scanning an object by hand can collect more comprehensive surface information about the object, resulting in better results. In order to enable users to use the system conveniently and quickly, this project implements a web-based user interface so that users can enjoy a consistent service experience on different devices and platforms. This project uses U2-net and ORB-SLAM to build a 3D reconstruction system that can scan hand-held objects and feedback in real time, in order to obtain a good user experience.
This is a fruit ripeness classification detector built with a deep learning model to help users reduce stress.
Applications can provide more and more services, and it is difficult for traditional business systems to adapt or respond quickly to the flexible needs and expansion of the market or customers. And microservice architecture is easy to incorporate new technologies that can be better applied to the system.

Because of the impact of COVID-19, video access is used to protect doctors and family members from infection due to contact.
By understanding maze construction and using programmatically to randomly generate different mazes. The desktop program designed based on the Java-swing framework generates maze paths through backtracking algorithm and data structure calculation.
This is a text recognition Android application with a custom template function, for solving some specific formats of paper document statistics. This project uses Tesseract to convert images to text. Some open-source projects are used for image acquisition and correction. After obtaining the text, the data in different partitions are classified and placed in the specified location of the database, so as to realize the function of statistics. The significance of this is that some paper documents in unusual or user-defined formats can be quickly digitized.
The project is a news application that focuses on city news. It collects city news, popular news and interesting events to help users learn more about the city.
Sign language communication system is to make it easier for deaf people to communicate with others through hand tracking and gesture recognition.
This project mainly designs a 2D game based on the Unity engine and combined with foreign language teaching elements. It is planned to allow learners to learn foreign languages while playing the game, so as to improve the enthusiasm and initiative of learners.
