Security Awareness Month
🌟  Did you know October is Security Awareness Month? 🌟

President Biden officially declared October 2023 Cybersecurity Awareness Month!

Are you practicing proper cyber hygiene? In the era of phishing, constant data breaches, and privacy concerns, it may seem that it doesn’t matter what we do but there’s small steps we can do to harden our personal security.

Here are some best practices, tips, and technologies to improve your personal security posture.

🔐  Use a password manager.
💻  Use a personal VPN
🛜  Do not use default WiFi settings. Upgrade to WPA3 if possible and ensure a Firewall is enabled. If you can, turn off UPnP and remote access. Here are more tips to secure your home network
🔍 Research how to harden your browser. Chrome. Safari
🌟 UPDATE. Ensure automatic updates are enabled on devices and software. Updates and patches typically have security improvements and outdated devices and applications leave you vulnerable to exploits.
🚮 Minimize spam and phishing attempts by unsubscribing to the many e-mail lists you’ve accumulated over the years/months. Many e-mail services provide this as a built-in function.
