Dr. Brian Maeng, Associate Professor and Program Director
The culture of innovation and participation makes the School of Technology and Computing (STC) distinctive. Since my early days working at STC, I have witnessed many exciting changes, and I feel grateful for the commitment of faculty to provide students these opportunities.
Let me give a few examples:
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certifications – students in STC programs can prepare for the AWS certifications by taking courses aligned with the industry certifications. Many students and professors have demonstrated it by passing the exams.
Kaggle Competition – members in STC Data Science Club are competing in the Kaggle competition, showcasing their knowledge, skills, and abilities on the real-world problem of classifying brain tumors.
Cybersecurity Club – this club, in its second year, builds a community with industry professionals and offers development opportunities in technical skills in the field of cybersecurity. The National Cyber League teams are forming, and the NUARI Tabletop exercise is April 3rd this year.
Our students, faculty, and administrators work to make these opportunities available for students at STC and CityU. Because of their efforts and leadership, students are now enriched with new learning opportunities early in their programs. I am confident they will pay it forward with novel, innovative ideas to benefit their peers and STC.

As organizations look to protect themselves from cyber attacks, employers can not afford to pause their cybersecurity hiring. As a result, demand for cybersecurity professionals hit record levels for the first nine months of 2022, before cooling in November and December. To read the rest of the article click here.
